But before I go!
Let's get back on topic. I wanted to post here about some of the cool images I've found online. I've sent up a few flares, but now it's your turn. Post your favorite solar images or movies in the comments.
See if you can surprise me.

Doctor Hendler,
I have chosen this image but feel I must explain my choice for it to be understood in context. My Phd was in the Arts not the sciences, images resonate in a very different way to me. I am unable to appreciate the scientific implications of an image but can appraise it deepy on its aesthetics. I ask you to consider this submission which is a work of digital art based on a solar flare. I ask you not to dismiss it but to consider it a choice that I have made for you with a great deal of my core self involved. As I myself was taught a few years ago "Art is contemplation. It is the pleasure of the mind which searches into nature and which there divines the spirit of which Nature herself is animated."

Looks like I got in late on this assignment. I hope I can still hand it in!

I like this photo because it shows the effect of a coronal mass ejection on the aurora borealis on earth. Very cool. It's like a crazy wave of magnetic energy.
This one look really apocalyptic:

m.i.t says this is one of the biggest ones ever what do you think...

I want to reply to everyone!
Whoops. I hit publish - I wasn't even thinking.
Bottom to top:
Margot - Ah, the beauty of nature. Such violence in that image. An explosion of color! Yet, so harmless.
Mcgritts - I couldn't get your first image to load, so I'll focus on the second. Looks like the eye of God staring at you, doesn't it?
Schrijvertje - What does your name mean, by the way? I like the image better than the video. For me, I find nature's art the truest form of art. I rather enjoy those flash-freeze moments of explosion - moment like your "apocalyptic" image captures. Sometimes I yearn for my own billion dollar space satellite. All she would do is stare into the sun.
Dan - I love this one! Can you see him? There's a man in that fire, arms waving, his body alight, consumed! I can't tell if he's standing up from the flames, or sinking in...
Mokey2rocks - Silly names! But the best of the best is yours. I'm going to have to start paying attention to youtube.
FizzCharlson - Excellent as well. As I said before, I cherish such images as have been shared today because they are art. In art, nothing is sacred and nothing should be held back. Art *is* contemplation. Well done.
RVC - I don't wish to belittle anyone's efforts, but, my friend, I think you can do better.
I live in Belgium, so my name is a Dutch word which means "little writer".
How about this Dr. Hendler

I can see how you can relate to this
Ye gads! More!
And I post that without even reviewing the "more".
Are you some kind of internet joker?
Sorry I thought that link worked. Here's one that does:
